Rec membership is built on the same components as ALM: dues, attendance, and hours—but at significantly reduced levels.
1. Dues
2. Attendance
3. Hours
- There is no baseline monthly hours requirement.
- To play in a bout, work one shift during that same event.
FAQ
What are the benefits of rec membership?
- Being a member of FSRD with minimal requirements/maximal flexibility
- Bouting with MoCo Mayhem
What is not included among the benefits of rec membership?
- Joining as a trainee/going through the training program—this requires consistent attendance and can't be done on a rec basis
- Earning ALM
- By extension: voting, trying out for charter teams, running for leadership positions, or being rostered on the Suzies or Villains
Is being on MoCo Mayhem the same thing as rec membership?
- No! MoCo Mayhem is a team that includes both ALM track skaters and rec skaters.
- But rec skaters who want to play in bouts do skate with Mayhem!
Do rec members need WFTDA insurance?
Is it possible to be an official and a rec member?
- Yes! As long as you meet the requirements for each role.
- Please do not to pay for practices you are officiating.
- Officiating can count as your hours shift during an event where you'll be skating.
- Make sure that both the head officials and the Mayhem managers know that you're doing both.
Is it possible to move between ALM and rec membership?
- You can move between these two tracks up to once per season.
- Otherwise, these categories are static:
- Rec skaters cannot earn ALM, even if they meet the requirements.
- An ALM skater does not become a rec skater by failing to make ALM.
